2008
Well the big day I was hoping to end my month with certainly did not happen. I ended up giving up on my marathon day due to frustration, but still managed to log over 10k hands. They were 10k very painful hands. I really can't imagine running any worse. Thankfully at the times I was playing there were very few high stakes games going so most of the day was spent at 5/10. But wowowowowow was it bad. I actually ran KK into AA 7 times in a 3 hour stretch with 3 of them happening within 10 minutes of each other. All in all I lost around $20k on the day. It is very annoying to end my month like this. When you have a big month it is nice to end on a high note or at least not a bitter note. Oh well there isn't much I can do about it. I am quitting the games for the night even though I had intended to play. I think I've seen enough bad beats for the day. I guess after giving it some thought the day sort of reflected how my month has gone which was very swingy. Truthfully most of the month was spent running very poorly. I had two +$100k bursts in a 50k hand stretch and a 25k hand stretch. The other 90k hands I lost a lot of money and I wouldn't be surprised if I actually had more losing days than winning days this month. I'll have to check on that.
All in all though I wrapped up my month up the most money of any month before for me. It was mostly due to the fact that I had a free schedule and played way more hands than I probably will in any month for the rest of the year. But either way I will happily take it of course. I guess I'm just a little sour after having it go so badly today so bear with me. I will gain some perspective on this situation shortly as I usually do.
Tomorrow my friend Mike Lavery is flying into town and on the next day the great Stoxtrader himself will arrive. Mike is coming into town to help with the golf website that I own. He is part of our team that consists of 6 people right now. The site is expected to go live in April and when it does I will certainly let you guys know for those that are interested. I have a grandiose vision for the site at the moment and am actually fully expecting it to be THE site for golf if you are an entusiastic golfer. I’m excited about it strictly from a golf nut standpoint! It will be hands down the coolest golf website on the net when it is done. I kind of wish there was a site like it when I was trying to be a professional golfer and only cared about golf. I hate to play it up too much as I would hate to disappoint, but honestly there is almost no chance any golfer will be disappointed it so I'm just going to confidently brag about it for now : )
It looks like I may become involved in another online business venture in the near future. I am not at liberty to discuss this one right now, but certainly will when I can. It is an ownership opportunity and at this point there is a decent chance I may become involved. So with Stoxpoker, my poker game, the golf website, and this new business opportunity, my plate has been a little too full lately. So full in fact that I am in the process of hiring a personal assistant. Now before anyone makes any judgments on this one please here me out...lol. Trust me I am not "going Hollywood" on anyone. Basically my day is currently consisting of approximately 2 hours of "stuff" that isn't productive towards Stoxpoker, my golf company, my new business venture, my poker game, or my own leisure time/vacation/time with family etc. I feel that by having a personal assistant that person will allow me to accomplish things solely relating towards the stuff I just mentioned. My friend/business partner along with his wife lives next door and is creating/administrating the golf site from his home office. He also has a couple of hours worth of stuff everyday that if the personal assistant did for him he could better manage the site. So by hiring a personal assistant who also is a good cook (I'm prioritizing this big time) I think I can have a more efficient business, play a lot more poker and eat way healthier. So it should be wayyyyy +EV for me to do this in terms of dollars, health and quality of life. Anyway, that's my rap on that and trust me I'm not one of the dickheads that is looking for someone to boss around and do all of the crap they don't want to do. I just genuinely think that it is a smart thing for me to do.
While Mike and Stoxtrader are here we will likely try and play golf every day. Tomorrow night Mike and I (and maybe my wife, but she isn’t feeling great at the moment) are going to hit the town in a big way. We will probably start drinking mid day until the bars close. I kind of wish Mike was flying in tonight after how poker went (I could use a drink I ain’t gonna lie) but hey I can wait one more day : ) My wife and I were saying the other day that we probably drink way less in terms of the number of days we have a drink than the average person. But on the days we do drink we REALLY drink…lol. We are definitely what you call binge drinkers. But hey we have a great time. With how busy I am with everything I don’t have a ton of evenings to go out to dinner and have a drink or two. So we make the most of the nights we do have open.
