What is it?

The StoxPoker Chatroom is a channel on our very own IRC network. You can very easily connect to this server by using our online web client (simple type in your nickname and click connect to get started) or a public IRC Client such as mIRC.

Where can I find support for StoxChat?

StoxChat support can be found in this forum thread or by e-mailing michael@stoxpoker.com.

How do I connect to the channel using mIRC?

1. Download an IRC Client. These instructions are for mIRC, a popular Windows IRC Client. You can download mIRC from http://mirc.com. After you have downloaded and installed mIRC then continue to step 2.

2. Configure your client. When mIRC first opens it will ask you for a series of details that are used when talking with an IRC server. An explanation of these fields is below:

Full name: Fairly self explanatory. Enter your name or initials in this field.

E-mail address: Although you don't actually have to enter your real e-mail address in this field you will need to enter something to help your client talk with our server. If you are uncomfortable using your e-mail address in this field then you can always enter example@stoxpoker.com

Nickname: This is the name that you will appear as when talking in chat. Note that nicknames can be registered and once registered will require a password to use. It is recommended that you use the nickname that you already use on the forums so people can identify with you easier.

Alternate: Enter an alternate nickname in here. This nickname will be used if the one you entered in the Nickname field is already in use.

3. Set the StoxPoker server to be your primary IRC server. mIRC is a generic client. It comes pre-configured to connect to a number of IRC servers and when you first open it you need to specify the server you will be using. To do this click "Severs" in the drop-down menu on the left. After you have clicked "Servers" click the "Add" button on the right. When the add server window appears change the settings to the following:

Description: StoxPoker Chat
IRC Server: irc.stoxpoker.com
Ports:
After you have added the server you can click "Connect" from the drop down menu. You will then see the first window again except that the "Server" field will have "StoxPoker Chat" written next to it.

4. Click "Connect" in this window.

You will now be within the main StoxPoker channel. If you have any problems then you can message anybody with an "@" beside their name. These people are known as "Channel Operators" and are present to keep the peace and moderate the channel. To message these people, right click on their name and click "Open Dialog Window". You will now have a window where you are just talking to the operator you selected. This also works for talking 1on1 with other members in the channel.
